So, the Noctua NT-H1 paste that case with the cooler is used up, so i used Arctic MX-4. The result was 10 degrees higher temperature on my i7 6700k. From 57 to 67 degrees. The cpu is not overclocked. Should i get a new tube of NT-H1 or did i just take too much paste on?

Solution
Agreed, between numerous popular brands of thermal paste whether nt-h1, mx-4, as5, prolimatech pk1, 2, 3 etc and dozens of others the thermal difference ranges around 1-3c at most. Something didn't go completely right when reinstalling the cooler, whether the mounting or amount of thermal paste used. Not due to different brand of paste.

I use Arctic MX-4 all the time, good stuff.

Ah the Ralph Wiggum principle...

If you still have some paste, lift up the cooler and see what the spread was like. If you see that parts are missed or uneven then you need to rethink your application method.

I tend towards a small bead running in-line with the processor (vertical in a tower case, or towards the rear panel I/O)

OK, thanks! I am going to take Off the cooler tomorrow and check.

I got some Off topic questions too if that is alright:

- The case i have now is a fractal design r5 black and i have one default fractal fan in the back as exhaust, one default fractal fan in the front as intake, and one Noctua nf-a14 pwm in the front as intake.

I want to buy one more 140mm fan to have as a top exhaust fan to get the heat from the nh-d15 quicker out of the case. What fan do i get? One more default fractal gp14 fan? One more Nf-a14? Or something else?

Let's say i buy one more nf-a14 pwm. Should i use the two nf-a14 pwm fans AS intake and have the fractal ones as exhaust or Vice versa?

Some opinions of what fan i am going to use would be Nice :)
