I use a Western Digital 250GB External drive and its been behaving badly and on CrystalDiskInfo it says Caution instead of like 80% Health. The drive has been in service for 1337 Hours. The problem that it detects is C5-Current Sector Count.

What Wrong With The Drive And Should I Stop Using It?

Hey there, FrozenSpark!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the WD external drive. :( The other guys said it all - back up as soon as possible! It looks like the health of the drive is degrading and it's truly not recommended to trust any data with it. I'd advise you to use WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows and run the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from it as well, after you have copied the data from the external somewhere else.

I'd also suggest you check the warranty on your drive. If it's still covered you should contact our Customer Support and send your RMA request to get a replacement.

Keep us posted & Good luck! :)
