Eyefinity connection 390x/Nano using Displayports & HDMI monitors

I am about to buy a 390x. I have 3 monitors with HDMI sockets.
I want to use the three Displayports on the 390x to connect my hdmi monitors.

Can anyone clarify what cables and adaptors (active/passive) I will need to do this please?

Wow, thanks Gingerbread. So are you saying the technology has changed then? I've had two previous eyefinity setups (HD5750x2, and HD7950) and needed at least one active adaptor, but I have had the 7950 for a couple of years so I am out of touch with the latest cards.

Does this mean any of the latest cards with 3 x DP ports, such as the nano and fury, will also run without adaptors? That would be great news.

Waiting was never my strong point, but apart from the upgrade it's also in preparation for VR, so I might try and wait. (Who am I kidding, I won't be able to resist once I make a decision :) ).
I was going with the 390x, but it looks like the Nano, even if it is only slightly better, makes up for the cost with lower power consumption. Fits in my case more easily too.

I7 4770k (not OC'd), 8GB Kingston 2400 RAM (think it is currently running at 2100 though), Asus Z87-K MB, Sapphire HD7950 3GB, 3 x 22"LG_22MP55 Monitors 5760x1080 Eyefinity.

I've certainly been very happy with the 7950, it still handles everything I need, it's only the prospect of VR that has started me looking.
I won't actually get a VR headset until the dust settles/price lowers/and it is clear which one to get (if any). So my intention was to spread the cost, get the system ready & enjoy the extra power for a while. But you may be right. I will give it careful thought before I jump in.
It's good to know I haven't got to mess around with adaptors this time round though :)

I tried but I could not stop myself - I found the R9 Nano on offer at EBuyer & got it for £380. (more expensive than the 390x, but runs quicker & cooler & uses less power, plus I didn't have to fork out for active adaptors).

I am extremely pleased with it. And this is just to confirm, NO active adaptors were needed.

So thanks again to Gingerbread for saving me from making unnecessary purchases of cables.

I have succeeded in connecting my 3 HDMI monitors in two configurations.

1) 2xDisplayport to HDMI and 1xHDMI to HDMI. (plain cables, no adaptors)
or
2) 3xDisplayport to HDMI (again, just straightforward DP to HDMI cables, no other adaptors).

Both configurations work fine.
