Buy the GTX 980 or wait for the new generation?

So i read somewhere that the GTX 980 was a soon to be mid range card suggesting that a new wave of cards will be hitting the market soon, should i buy a 980 now or wait for the new gen to coem out? Because im guessing the price range would not be different? Hwo long would i have to wait?

Not enough info yet. Check back later, or monitor pcper or similar hardware sites for news on Pascal or Polaris.

I can say a GTX980 is crappy value as it's a lot more expensive than a GTX970 for about 15% performance increase (depending on CPU, game).
