I think I killed my Sabertooth x58

Hi everybody!

I'm new here but I've been reading the forums for awhile (errr... about 4 hours) and I'm just totally stumped on where to go to from here. I'm pretty sure I have to get a new motherboard.

So, we were having that issue where the computer hardware would power up, but then it would just hang there before loading BIOS and nothing would show on any monitors.

I mixed and matched video cards, RAM, power supplies, CMOS batteries, and unplugged everything and plugged it back in.

Then I read a post where someone talked about the memok light and, sure enough, mine was on. SO I pressed and held the memok button for a minute or so and it went off and everything shut down and it never came back. Now I can't get anything to power up at all. The "boot device LED" does light up, though.

Pretty sure I just killed the poor thing.

So, I'm hoping you guys can help me with either fixing this motherboard (it's freaking expensive as all get out, so I'd rather fix it) or suggestions on a new motherboard that are budget friendly.

Thanks so much!

Solution
1. Are you getting any beeps?
2. Here is your manual: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1366/Sabertooth_X58/e5995_sabertooth_X58.pdfIs
3. Is the power LED on? Item #11 on page 2-2
4. Read page 2-24 about the Mem OK button
5. Try this: Turn off the power by holding the power button down for 10 seconds. If the power light (#11) is still lit, flip the switch on your psu or unplug it. Remove the CMOS battery for 15 minutes. Push and hold the power button for 30 secs to remove any residual electricity. Check all the cables and make sure no bare wires are touching the MB or any components. While you are waiting, remove all connections except keyboard, monitor, CPU, & heatsink. Re-seat the MB cables (24 pin and ? 8 pin). Make sure...

Okay, I might forget something, so if I do, just remind me.

It's got a Corsair Cooling System, Cooler Master 1200W Silent Pro Gold Power Supply, EVGA GTX570 Geforce, Sabertooth 58x motherboard, Intel il-960 CPU, Vengeance (?) RAM 2megs each x 3.

Thank you so much!!!!!

Re-seat the MB cables (24 pin and ? 8 pin). Make sure nothing is plugged into the USB ports, except keyboard and mouse plugged into USB 2 ports, not usb 3. Unplug the hard drives/ SSD drives. Remove the RAM. Put back only one stick of RAM. Replace the CMOS battery. Turn on your PSU. Press the MEM OK button until it blinks. If the computer doesn’t start up, push the power button. If it starts up, power down and add back the GPU and monitor. If you get into bios, check that the memory is set to its base value. Then power off. Reconnect your boot drive cables.
6. If that doesn’t work, power down and move the RAM stick to a different slot. Press the memory OK button, and then power back up. Repeat with each RAM slot.
7. If that does work, I would breadboard it: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems
