I my bios, i have options to use my pcie ports at x1 x2 etc, but with these enabled, it disables m.2, and with m.2 enabled, it disables everything else?

Is there any way to enable both, so i can use my sound card and m.2 ssd at the same time?

My motherboard is a ASUS Maximus Ranger VII, sound card is Sound Blaster Z, and ssd is Samsung 950 PRO 256gb.

Check Pg 1-26 of your users manual. You should be able to change the PCI-E Operating mode to M.2 Mode. This will allow you to run your sound card in the PCIEx4_3 slot.

From mobo specs: "*1: The PCIe 2.0 x 16 slot (PCIEX4_3) shares bandwith with PCIe 2.0 x1 and M.2 slot. The default setting is Auto Mode, which automatically optimizes the system bandwidth. If you install a PCIe 2.0 x4 device, the system will automatically detect and disable PCIe 2.0 x1 and M.2 slot."

Are you using the sound card in your PCIEX4_3 slot? Try moving it to a PCIe x1 slot.

Doesn't fit in a PCIEx4 slot

Edit: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. Decided to try it out, and it never thought it would fit, but it did, and everythings working now! Thank you so much for the help!

Sorry, this wasn't meant to be selected as solution. All but the PCIEx 1_1, which is the m.2, is disabled

My ssd is supposed to have 2.2gb/s read and 900 mb/s write, but i only get 800mb/s read and write, so the only option is a new motherboard?

OK. The above still applies, there's no way to change a PCIE 2.0 slot to a PCIE 3.0 slot. Check the PCIE Mode selections to see if there is one that will make the M.2 slot share with the PCIEx16_2 slot. Otherwise, I'd expect a new motherboard would be required.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it as a new motherboard may require a fresh windows install and maybe a new windows license.
