New SSD showing as 500mb but 111gb in disk management.

Solution
Hey there, Dillon_9.

Everything seems fine with the SSD in Disk Management. I'd advise you to change its drive letter though. Use something after "C" for example "E", "F", etc. This might fix things up. Here's how to do it: How to change the drive letter assignment in Windows.
If that doesn't prove useful you should try updating the SSD's firmware if it has available updates. Also you could try it out with a different SATA port and different SATA cables, or even better - with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

It actually looks like in Disk Management there's a recovery partition with which is 500MB and it seems like in Windows Explorer this is what you might be seeing. Try reformatting the drive to see if that fixes things up. Note that you should use Quick format (never use full format on an SSD).

If I format the drive I will lose my windows boot correct? I boot from the SSD for faster performance.

Well, from what I see the new SSD you are referring to is Disk 1 in Disk Management. You have your OS on Disk 0 along with the boot and system partitions and everything, so you shouldn't have any issues if you format the new SSD as long as there's nothing on it.
If you have no data which you might need on that SSD just right click with the mouse on the partition which is 111GB and select "Delete volume". Click again with the right mouse button and select "New Volume" and follow the Wizard and select a different letter.

It would appear that your operating system (OS) - is it Windows 7? - is residing on your 160 GB HDD - (and a pretty old HDD I would guess), while your 120 GB SSD is just sitting there doing nothing.

If I have this right, wouldn't it make sense for your SSD to contain the OS? It would run circles around your present configuration. Since your 160 GB boot drive contains only about 40 GB of data or so it wouldn't be any problem to clone the contents of your present boot drive over to the SSD. Then you could use the HDD for storage/backup purposes. Assuming I correctly understand your present configuration, does all that make sense to you?
