So i have an asus m5a99fx motherboard i dont really know the beep codes so any help towards that would be great. But i try to boot my system and all the fans everything lights up then i get 1 short beep. And i believe thats the post meaning everything is ok. Then i get a long beep followed by 3 short beeps now i've looked everywhere and its always different. Some say its ram. Some say its gpu. Some say its cpu. Now i peronally think its the cpu since this happend on a different system once with the same cpu then randomly worked again on the same system then i upgraded my system and now its happening again. And every component should work since its all pretty new except the cpu.

Theres also nothing about the beep codes in the manual that i can find. ( i might be blind)

Depends on what motherboard and the bios chip it is running.

In any case the bios beep error code you are hearing can mean two things.

1. No graphics card detected in the Pci-e.

Resolution: check that if using a Pci-e based graphics card in the board that it is seated properly and flush in the Pci-e slot of the motherboard.

Undo the screw on the retaining bracket of the graphics card to the case slightly.
Lift the graphics card up over, holding it then tighten the screw on the retaining bracket of the graphics card.

Check that any extra 12v Pci-e power connectors are connected to the graphics card from the power supply unit if required by the card.

Check that you have connected from the Power supply unit the four or eight pin 12v E-ATX power connector to your motherboard. Why? Because four of the pins are used to provide 75W of power to the Pci-e graphics card slot of the motherboard.
And extra power to the cpu via the other four pins.
As well as the 24 pin power ATX block from the psu to your motherboard.

Result is no video card detected if not connected. One long beep three short.

The second can be memory, and it is an indication that the memory modules are not seated right in the memory slots of the motherboard.
A thumb on each end of the memory module push down at the same time.
Or that the memory modules inserted are not fitted to the correct memory slots of the motherboard.
For proper detection of them, consult the motherboard manual for the recommended placement in what memory dimm slots of the board they should be placed in.

Check all of the above in order Loafwad, It will be one of them, as to the cause.

The board will post and boot right.

Post back on the results.

Alright so i've just come home from work. I did everything you said even tried my old ram sticks and graphics card. And there are no error codes which is great!! But it still.. turns off after a while. I did manage to get into the bios for a couple of seconds but it still shut itself off.
And btw it was the graphics card that was not seated correctly. That caused the error codes.
