Is it true that AMD get a lot more fps because it doesn't provide PhysX and the other effects setting? And is it true Nvidia get lower fps because of effects setting that it has(such as PhysX, etc)? Because I'm confused between choosing effects vs fps. My friend said that AMD will run games a lot smoother without some crazy effects that Nvidia has. Is it really that bad? I don't wanna just believe him

Your friend is talking nonsense.

You can disable/enable physx &/or game works on the few game that support it.(it is true that leaving these enabled will cripple performance with an amd card)

At similar pricepoints

R7 360 is stronger than 750ti
Gtx 950 is stronger than r7 370
R9 380 is stronger than gtx 960
R9 390 is slightly stronger than gtx 970.

It makes and out to be a clear winner but at the expense of a lot more power draw & heat .

Fps on those above will be similar to unnoticeable apart from the r7 360 which beats the 750ti 'easily'
