So as title says, I'm building a new PC, and this is my first. What I have right now is 6 gbs of ddr3 RAM, a 600 watt power supply, a case and a gtx 8800. Now for the proccessor, I am looking to get a fx-6300 and a Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 motherboard. Now the problem I am having is that I am wondering how the computer will run with the 8800. If it is not good enough, how much can I get for it? It is new in box. Thank you so much for the help, and any other suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Solution
So get i3 6100, H110m-a mobo and 8gb ram for 288.26$ and sell your current RAM for $30. That should get you close to $250budget and huge increase in performance and good build for the future :)

i3 6100 has much much stronger single core performance than the FX6300. Also, it can still handle multi threaded games with ease, as it essentially has 4 core because of hyperthreading. SO that CPU is very good and would take it over fx6300 everyday.

Mobo has 1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x1 (x16 mode) slots so 8800 should work on it. However i would get a new gpu because that one is seriously outdated

you can get some money for the 8800. poople looking for those cards are the older dell and hp with the low wattage power supply or someone with a server build that needs a gpu just for video. look on ebay for the prices going for that gpu. put it up for sale and see if someone wants it.
