Just a bit of context, i bought a 2nd monitor for my rig recently, (I just updated this recently to w10 too!) and it uses a VGA port. I had an extra VGA to DVI-I adaptor and used that connect the monitor to my HD7790. It used to work fine (for a good 4 days), but then just recently, it would go black after booting up. It would display bios correctly, and it would show the windows loading sign, but once i'm logged in. The screen would just go black. This is still detected by my system, i can drag windows in it. It's just that it's completely black.

I tried using this monitor on a different computer, and it worked fine. I tried making it the only monitor on my windows, but it doesnt work either. The cables nor the adaptor isnt the problem since it worked on another pc. I need to know what info you need if it could help. Please let me know. peace!

Solution

Figured it out already, i guess a software program was interfering with it, everytime i'd boot it to safe mode, the screen would display correctly. I just disabled some programs in the startup tab in msconfig. :)
