I have just installed a Sapphire HD6850 1GB graphics card on my system and, frankly, it's graphics quality is less than useless, so I suspect that there is either a configuration problem or some incompatibility issues - so I hope someone can help.

What I have:

Monitor: Toshiba 37BV701B

PC:
----
Motherboard: ASRock (H81M-HDS)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz (architecture: x64; 3201 MHz)
memory: 7.7 GB
Graphics card: Sapphire HD6850 1GB (GDDR5)

The TV doesn't have DVI, so I'm having to use HDMI.

I visited the AMD website and downloaded their software to detect the card and install the appropriate drivers.

After that, the card worked, but the image quality was worse than the built-in on-board graphics system which was extremely disappointing. I tried various configuration using the AMD configuration software, but this pretty much messed up the performance of the whole PC which then ran like a dog. I then couldn't correct this and so ended up restoring the system to get back to using the old graphics system.

Can anyone help (PLEASE)

Regards,
Mike

Thanks for the update!

Bit of a shame no one came up with some ideas or suggestions (which is why i directed you here) but at least you have narrowed down the issue a little more yourself + also if anyone else runs into a similar issue with the HD6850 then they may find this thread helpful.

I had a slightly opposite issue when I bought a monitor with a weird 'ghosting' glitch while playing games, even the standard settings on the monitor did not help, so I googled the issue and found that the monitor had 'advanced settings' that you could access and this led me to the solution.

So i would also suggest typing in your monitor model number plus the word 'advanced settings' i.e 'ABC123G advanced settings' you may find you have more...

Bump.

I sold the card in question to this customer.

The card was previously used paired with another identical card in SLI, they ran fine so this issue is rather alarming.

I directed the customer here in the hope that someone can help.

I am not very tech savvy with graphics cards myself so please feel free to post suggestions and offer some help for him. Thank you.

@ Mike: Sorry again for the issues.

While I am here I was going to suggest that you use a HDMI cable, as some of them DVI connectors can cause bad image quality, but you mentioned you are already using the HDMI cable, you said your using a TV as a monitor, so have you also checked the advanced settings on that too, you may need to locate the manual for the TV / Monitor to do this.

If no one answers or can help then just contact me back on Amazon, I have the other card still so we can replace it.

I will reserve the other card for you in the meantime.

Best of luck. Dave.

This is an to my problem.

Since reporting this problem, I've purchased a DVI cable and tested the card with a proper monitor (22" Samsung) and everything works fine with that, which indicates that there is no problem with the card after all.

So, as suggested by Dave (thanks Dave), I've been playing around with some settings on the TV and seem to have improved things. Under the picture setting there is a section called 'Mode' - This has settings: Natural; Cinema; Game; Dynamic. Although 'Game' would seem the obvious choice (and works), 'Dynamic' is a little clearer - but far from what I'd like. However I can live with this as I know that it's not the card causing it.

I did have another problem yesterday (Windows 10 reported that it had identified a problem and needed to reboot). I was running X-plane flight simulator using my two displays at the time. I need to do more testing and if I can't find the cause, I'll submit a new post.

Regards,
Mike

As for the reboot i am not sure why it would suddenly reboot, I play prepar3d flight sim, but not had any sudden reboots while playing.

Anyway have also contacted you back on Amazon.

Good luck, let me know any updates.

Best regards
dave.
