Windows 95 won't install proper drivers for PCMCIA network card?

Hey,
I have a little problem with my Toshiba Satellite Pro 420CDT.
(And yes, this is my first thread, so I apologize if I posted it in the wrong place...)

I bought a Netgear MA401 Wireless card, and when I try to install it onto my laptop, the "Found New Hardware" message pops up, but instead of asking for or installing the proper drivers, it just automatically installs the Microsoft TCP/IP 2.0 Package. Therefore, when I restart my computer when prompted, neither Device Manager or the Netgear programs like Winupdate detect it. Even when I already have the network card's CD in the CD drive, the same thing always happens. I've tried everything from reinstalling the PCMCIA drivers to reinstalling the card itself, to no avail.

Also, I probably need to note that I've even checked the PCMCIA slot, and none of the pins are missing or bent, and they don't appear to be damaged.

And, yes, the "Link" light does turn on when the card is installed into the PCMCIA slot.

Any ideas? :)

No, you can manually pick a driver for update through device manager.

It has been too long, but most of those devices had to have the installer program run BEFORE you plugged in the actual hardware. That way the OS had the right "hints" on what driver to use. You may be able to manually search for a driver on the disk.

Actually, I did install the Winupdate program before plugging in the network card (not sure if that counts as a driver or not.) Do you think it would work if I tried reinstalling the Netgear software, then the card?

I'll try... but hopefully the card shows up in Device Manager (without reinstalling it.)
