Security camera set. 1080p analog or 1080p IP?

Solution

Analog vs digital really doesn't have much difference except that analog signals are more likely to receive interference that will lower quality while digital can generally be unaffected by minor interference. If you would like to read more about it, here is a good site: http://www.bluejeanscable.com/articles/digitalanalog.htm

Other than that, the analog camera seems to have far more features, yet the digital camera has more storage...

Other than that, the analog camera seems to have far more features, yet the digital camera has more storage. Beyond the signal quality over distance, I don't think there is much difference between analog and digital picture unless the sensor itself is lower quality. I believe the digital camera has a higher megapixel camera so that it has support for slightly higher resolutions than 1080p, although I am not sure. Also, I tried looking up the products and all I can say is do not trust Sams Club. Their information does have some mistakes and can be incorrect. The description on Sams Club and the product manufacturer differ... Here are some much more reliable sources of information.

IP http://www.swann.com/us/conv8-a3mp4c

Analog http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16881389003

I am no expert in security cameras, but I do know about signal quality and resolution and everything. It's probably best to make sure the cables have some sort of shielding if quality is very important.

IP or analog is merely how it connects to the DVR. The camera is the key component.
And there is zero difference between the camera tech in those.

I have a 4 cam Lorex system. Similar quality cameras. At night (11:22 PM Eastern), on a 21" Planar LCD screen, this is what it looks like:

This is a picture of the screen, taken with my camera. Actually looking at the screen is slightly better.

Especially if the cameras output audio, IP/digital is theoretically better though as it will have less noticeable interference as I said in the previous post. As long as cable distance is short, digital will never suffer while analog will still receive slight interference. As signal increases, analog will begin to noticeably get very bad while digital will skip frames every once in a while, replacing them with what the software thinks should be there. So you are incorrect that there is zero difference. There is a very severe difference as one (digital/IP) is in a 1/0, on/off, square waveform, prone to interference, however still readable with 100% quality and the identical data as what was sent (assuming interference wasn't so severe that the waves are completely mutilated...), while the other (analog) is in a much more natural waveform, prone to interference which is uncorrectable and becomes a part of the data, generally as static.

Also, just as a note, I'm not sure your camera picture or comment is helpful as there is no indication of a difference between IP/digital and analog signal...

I hope this was helpful. I don't mean to be mean or anything (although it might sound that way).

Ok, but you never actually stated that it was analog, so it didn't exactly make sense.

As said: "Similar quality cameras."
The connection type does not count.

Did you not read my paragraph? ... It does... If you didn't, please go read it... I am no expert on security cameras, but I do know lots about data transfer and I know that IP is just digital transfer while analog is analog. And if you look up digital vs analog, or something like that, there are TONS of differences and advantages and disadvantages to both. This all applies to cameras as well. There are length ratings on cables and standard lengths for a reason.
