Is this combo good? I also have a option of switching out the processer to a i5 6600k but that would cost me my boot ssd. Is it a worthy scrafice?

With the 6600k you can overclock if you wanted in the future. Difference in performance you would hardly notice. Yes that is a great combo, even for 1440p if you upgrade in the future. Boot times arent a whole lot faster with SSD vs the HDD. So if you wanted to overclock in the future get the 6600k.
