Hello guys, i have tried to assemble my pc alongside with a friend who has placed watercooling on many pcs, but twice it ends up with no post and i have 2 i7 6700k cpus fried.

The motherboard is asus z170 pro gaming
cpu i7 6700k
psu corsair ax 860 (the 1st try of instalattion was with a corsair cx 750)
vga Asus 970 gtx
RAM kingston hyper x predator 2400

We tried a 3rd time with a new cpu, but this time with just mobo, ram and cpu only with a stock air cooler and it was fine and it worked ok, not flawlessly but ok, we had some issues with pc starting itself after you turn the psu switch on, vga not working at 1st etc

Now, to the real question. My waterblock is EK supremacy MX. Both times we removed the original backplate of the motherboard and we replaced it with the EK supremacy backplate but without the BAS washer as shown in the figure in the manual provided(i think i haven't seen it in the box? ). https://www.ekwb.com/shop/EK-IM/EK-IM-3831109800287.pdf

Do you think the fact that i haven't installed the bash washer fried the cpus? Tommorow we will try to put watercooling parts again and iam trying to be as careful as possible this time.

I'm no expert with that water block, but yes, it seems very likely that this is because you have not installed the BAS washer. From what I can tell, the BAS washer is used to stop direct metal-on-metal contact from the motherboard circuitry/solder to the backplate bracket. This works because the BAS washer is made out of some kind of anti-static material and fits between the back of the motherboard and the bracket to stop direct contact.

If the washer did not come with the block just contact EKWB so they can send you another one. If you install the washer and it still doesn't work you will probably have to RMA/replace components.

NOTE: All air coolers and backplates I've installed have had anti-static material on them out of the box...

Good luck though, you're system build is solid and is very similar to my own
