Cannot install windows

This is super urgent. Please help me.

Inhave MSI H81M-P33 motherboard. I updated BIOS via MSI Live Update. After updating, around 5 minutes, the computer freeze. I reset it, and saw:

REBOOT AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVICE OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA IN SELECTED BOOT DEVICE AND PRESS A KEY.

This was weird. I went on BIOS and reload setting defaults. Then I configured the BIOS again. In boot option, I chose Hard Disk with my SSD name and the DVD name as second option. Then, I set the controller to AHCI. Then, I saved and rebooted. I got the same issue.

I decided to repair Windows but Windows DVD could not do it. Then, I decided to do a fresh install and when selecting the hard disk, I got this:

WINDOWS CANNOT BE INSTALLED TO THIS DISK. THIS COMPUTER'S HARDWARE MAY NOT SUPPORT BOOTING TO THIS DISK. ENSURE THAT THE DISK'S CONTROLLER IS ENABLED IN THE COMPUTER'S BIOS MENU.

I went on BIOS and controller is AHCI. The SSD was fine before I updated BIOS. I just bought it 2 days ago.

Please help.

Is the drive shown in the BIOS?

Also could you provide us with your system specs and what OS you have?

Have you tried to reset the CMOS using the jumper?

Yes the drive is shown on BIOS as hard disk and the name. I removed cmos and disconnected the sata as welll but in vain.

Find the CSM setting on the UEFI and set it to Disabled

CSM stands for compatibility support module. If enabled it allows for Legacy mode (win7 and older). You can find it in different menus depending on the motherboard. Look for advanced. Normally it is under the Boot section

Legacy+UEFI is enabled. If i select only UEFI, i dont get my ssd name nor my dvd drive. There is no CSM. I dont see where i can attach a image here.. I could send you

Was the computer bought prebuilt or did you install Windows? On the new machines that I build for my customers I always use UEFI only for Windows 8.1 and 10.

Do you have data that you need on the SSD? Do you have a Windows 10 optical disk?

Also it is worth re-flashing the BIOS. MAke sure you have the correct version Your motherboard has two versios. Make sure you select the correct one https://www.msi.com/Motherboards/#?tag=M-ATX-Intel then put the file on a USB drive and load it within the UEFI.

Then i dint know how to unlock

I flashed bios to the version i had but in vain. It keeps saying cannot install windows as the disk is not bootable because of contriller

The hard drive does not get locked by itself. You may have accidentally encrypted the disk (since you don't know how to unlock it).

I switched the cable of ssd to the dvd and vice versa. Im booting from dvd to install windows. Im in the partition thing. It is very slow.im deleting the system partition and it is still loading to delete. If this is successful, i will do the same for primary partition. I can see the space is all new again.

So the bios update did not only lock the ssd but also it has deleted everything. This is crap.

I hope it is installed now. Im waiting. I will post update. It is very slw.

The BIOS update cannot lock the drive or delete the data. You shouldn't have touched the partitions. Anyway, see how it goes and let us know if you need more help
