This past week after 3/12/16 (the date I updated graphics drivers and windows update) my computer has froze 3 times while watching videos online. The screen will change to a randomly colored screen (first time it was Maroon colored then black and then grey) and a whirring like noise comes from my headphones, computer is frozen and I have to press the reset button to get it working again.

One odd thing about this is that it won't freeze/crash when I play games on my PC and I spend a lot of time gaming. It could just be a coincidence, but all 3 times it crashed I was watching videos online. Random online video site/twitch.tv and Netflix is where it happened.

There will be no warning that this is about to happen, it just does. It started happening after I updated my nvidia drivers and did a windows update. Is my graphics card bad? My built my frist PC one year ago. Any help is appreciated.

Strange that this happened to me with almost exactly the same circumstances. The only difference is I updated my graphics card first (last week) and did a windows update extravaganza this week.

Well, now when I watch Netflix (played games just fine) the computer will lock up, one monitor (multi setup) turns to a random color and the sound gets stuck in loop. Forces me to restart.

I've gone back to driver 362.00 with the hopes that will fix it. Let's keep each other updated!

Fingers crossed.

So far so good, everything has been okay. Just waiting a little bit longer to make sure it's fixed. Like Xuebao and Jasoncaz, I went back to 362.00 and no problems so far.

Does this mean I can't update my drivers again?

Okay, so my screen has been crashing recently, but only from video stuff like Netflix and YouTube as well. It may have happened around the same time I installed new drivers, but I'm not sure.
Very glad I stumbled upon this post though, it sounds like similar issues to mine! Like, it kinda fizzles out into a whitish screen with random colored pixels, or this past time it just became a blank teal screen with noise from my speakers.

I'm also on a 970, and I know it's been awhile since you posted, but was the issue solved completely by downgrading your driver?

I had to use DDU to clear my drivers completely and install 362.00 afterwards. Fixed my issue just fine. After that, I upgraded to the newest driver again and I haven't had an incident since.
