I'm building a new gaming PC, will these components be compatible?

Yes everything looks to fine with that build but if i was you i would get a better power supply as that unit is trash,
look at this list and i would go for tier 1 or 2 http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Are there any disadvantages to using that psu? Or do I have to go for a lower wattage one?

I got it in a bundle with my case for a decent price, I didn't think too much about it really.

Haswell will work fine. Hopefully you got a good deal. As others said you don't need a large PSU like that. A smaller power unit with higher quality would be far better. The Corsair CX have a bad habit of dying early.

Any suggestions on which h97 mobo would be best?
Thanks

The $70 ASRock H97M PRO4 is just fine: 4x DDR3 Slots, 6x SATA3 Ports, 6x USB 3.0 Ports , 6x USB 2.0 Ports, Realtek ALC892. Nice little mobo imho.
