I went and compressed a raw avi 5760x1080p 8gb 2min to a 1920x1080 and on a 850 pro witch took about 5m35s wd black took about 6m5s would that mean unless you had SSDs in a raid a high end gpu would be boddlenecked and technically could have went with a lower end gpu also I was using 20gb ram wile 32gb total memory

O and bolth drives were using about 100%

For that kind of use then yeah your storage can be a bottleneck.

You could set up like 4 smaller SSDs in RAID 0 and output your files there before backing them up to the HDD to solve the storage bottleneck.

In most high end setups the disk is almost always your bottleneck, especially when reading or writing data. If you went to a lowerend GPU it may take longer to actually do the compression. You could try getting a PCIe ssd vs a raid setup. Most of them offer sppeeds 3-4 times after than what you get on SATA
