Z97 vs Z87 mobo

For an OC 4690k/4790k I'd recommend a Z97. Z87 boards, while officially supporting Haswell Refresh CPUs, often struggle to run them. Especially an overclocked CPU should be put in Z97.

Not much difference. I would opt for Z97, being a later gen chipset.
