I want to run 32GB (for VR experiments) on my Z170 motherboard. I am wondering if it would be better to fill all 4 slots with 8GB of ram each or just buy 2 16GB sticks? I have read that the i7 6700k CPU memory controller can be negatively affected using all 4 slots. Is this true? What is best for performance?

2x16 is great, easier on the MC (memory controller), can OC CPU a bit higher (generally), also easier to OC the DRAM higher. I had 4x8GB 3200/16 Tridentz, and grabbed a set of the 2x16GB 3200/14. Currently have the 2x16GB and have mixed in a pair of the 8GB sticks for 48GB total
