Hi guys,

I'm shopping for an R9 390 and I am trying to decide which one to grab. One of the things I'd like to do in the future is to use a 3 1080p monitor set-up. I haven't done that before and I am a little hazy on what kind of ports I would need or want the card to have. I'd be using this for gaming.

The 3 I am considering are the Sapphire Nitro, MSI Gaming and the XFX.

With my limited knowledge on triple monitor set-ups I am thinking the Sapphire might be the way to go as it has 3 Display Ports. In the reading I've done I see that you don't need to use all the same type of ports to configure a triple monitor set up but, I thought maybe it might be simpler to use 3 of the same type of ports when I shop for monitors and perhaps may help to keep the output on the displays all looking identical.

I am still in the beginning of trying to figure this all out so, any suggestions or opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

Nobody had a clue, eh?

For others with similar questions to mine, I spent a few hours online last night and think I have a handle on it and thought I'd share what I figured out. Feel free to correct me if I am mistaken.

The Sapphire R9 390 has 3 DisplayPorts on it. That was the deciding factor for me in buying that particular R9 390 (this morning). With those 3 DP's all I will need to do is pick up 3 monitors that have DP's on them. All output sent from my GPU to the monitors will have the same speed and resolution. No need for adapters which, for me, is a plus. Keep it simple. From the reading I've done there are many monitors that feature DP's so, I'm good to go.
