I have an amd fx 8320 and asus crosshair v formula z. I was planning on switching to an intel cpu but I'm not sure anymore as my motherboard was quite expensive at around $230 and I'm not sure if buying a whole new motherboard and intel cpu is worth it. If I did not go to Intel what AMD CPU should I get, I was planning on getting the 9590 but I heard it is completely not worth it.

If you already have an fx 8320 right now (i own the fx 8350 in another rig myself) and it is not suiting your needs (you didnt list your needs) then upgrading to an fx 9590 is 100% a waste of money.

You will get VERY little gained performance (providing that you even have the power supply for the 9590's 220 tdp).

In gaming you will get ZERO gained...

The 9590 is a waste of money, you can do basically the same with an 8350 or 8370. It also gets beat easily by a 2 generation old 4770K (which is why they never sent any 9590s out for pre-release review. It was primarily a publicity stunt so they could claim to have the fastest stock CPU available, when it's an OCed 83xx die. I've got a Crosshair with a 8370, and it does not begin to compare to my current Intel rigs, nor did it compare to my former 3570K rig

if your pc does what you need it to do, then maybe save for a nice intel rig or add extras like custom water cool or a new m.2 (pcie), which you can add to new rig later. because once the build is over so is 75% of the fun.

In gaming you will get ZERO gained performance whatsoever, for gaming you want better single threaded performance which basically means intel
