Can you please tell me the difference between chassis fan connector and power fan connectors on my motherboard (asrock q77m VPRO)?

Solution
Well, if your chassis fan connector is connected directly to your power supply (by MOLEX etc.), then the fans will always be running at 100% (not great for noise if you're noise conscious!)

Whilst your motherboard fan headers allows your system to change fan speed depending on temperature, or even allowing you to take manual control of fan speed (eg: through speed fan)

I hope this helps :D

Thanks for the fast and accurate answer. <3

The power fan is used by the motherboard to make sure fans are up and running that are required for operation. If a power fan fails to spin then the system should refuse to boot. The same is true if a CPU Cooling Fan is refusing to spin up.

A chassis fan is considered less critical and may or may not be monitored by the BIOS.
