Ping to Router is Very High?

Hello all,

My internet over the past month or so has been below par. We are paying for 45 down and are receiving usually less than 20 Mbps. I ran a few basic tests and found out some staggering information. When I ping to my default gateway I can receive numbers that are as high as 1207 Mbps (this is not a lie!) I have restarted both my router and my modem. I have heard some people saying that I should bridge my connection but I am not too sure about that. Any suggestions?

1207Mbps or 1207ms? Pings are times not speed. If it is 1207Mbps, then I'm assuming you're using 802.11ac as that surpasses gigabit ethernet and would not be a problem, it would be highly desired.

Bridge your connection? Bridge what? You need a router in your network to hand out IPs via DHCP. If your modem has a router built-in and you're running a second router you can bridge the connection from the first router (modem) to your real router, but you've not mentioned anything about dual routers.

Thanks for the reply Joe. Sorry about the confusion but I meant 1207 ms, I wish I had a Google Fiber. Also I do have a modem and a router. Why would bridging my connection speed up my internet?
