Alright so for past 4 straight days I've been experiencing slooow internet speeds (3. 9 dl/9. 8 upload, when should be more like 50/10), so I called my isolated tech support, was told to reset the modem, did that, rebooted, now no access to the 'net, we have our own router(Dlink 826L model), which sits beside the modem. So tried a direct connect to a laptop through the modem got connected np, however with so many wireless devices in the house like so many others these days, a simple direct connect isn't possible with tablets and cell phones.

So tried a reset on the router, got that all setup again, still no access, so what gives where's the issue that I could be missing, is the router gone bad? All devices see the router as part of the network, but beyond that no access

Solution
OK.. so the router died...

Can you log onto the router? yes... check its WAN connection, check for connected devices... Do a factory rest of it from the inside, reconnect and check...

If these fail...

Replace it.
did you reboot the modem after you reconnected the router?

is the computer getting an IP from the router?

is the router getting an IP from the ISP?

is the WAN IP and the LAN IP of the router of the same IP scheme?

can you ping the router?

can you ping 206.190.36.45?

can you ping www.yahoo.com?
