Hello.

Having a weird issue where after a certain amount of time ( my pc being on ) programs cannot be updated / installed.

For example, Switch pc on, load up steam, steam updates, logs in all fine.

Now if i leave it say 1hr or 2hrs before launching steam, if i load up steam the update will not move, and other programs such as trying to install Malware Bytes etc will not happen, the process is there but nothing ever pops up nor can the process be killed.

Ive updated all windows updates, Anti virus ( which also will not quick scan after the 1 / 2 hrs), ran malwayre bytes ( no issues ) and ran CC cleaner.

sfc /scannow also fails to find any faults..

Thanks

Hello.

I figured it was norton causing the issue, got a guy to live support chat it, he ran a file on my pc and since then its worked, apparently a registry file had corrupted and was causing the issue.

To solve this problem you need to remove all the programs which cause failure bafore like a games, uninstall all the programs you don't use now like that steam games, virus scanner if this free edition and other programs. If all this program has been remove install a new updated virus scanner and run a virus scanning. Then if you observe that the windows is working normal install you steam but if this will cause to slow your computer might be this is the problem consider to upgrade your computer.

Ive done as you have said before, there is nothing wrong with steam or the AV ( norton). For example, this morning i swtich my PC on, did a norton and malwarebytes scan and loged into steam all ok.

I left for 2 hrs cam back, unable to Norton scan, nor can i now install any program from the internet such as i if i want to install malwayre bytes the program downloaded from the internet never gets the the laucnher for it, i get the do you want to run yes or no, click yes and after that nothing happens,

I had a game that needed an update via its launcher, the progress on that will not move either, after a restart, the update to that game will now work.

Its like after a certain time something / some process, is stopping things being updated / installed.

Ive done a clean boot, removed some files around the time of it all going wrong, uninstalled Abode Air and Silver light ( i remember both of these having issues when they were installed) and have set Windows Installer to Automatic. Hopefully its sorted! ( its all still good 1 hr later).

Ill keep this updated.

Hi I'm back here, try to uninstall that Norton Virus scanner and delete the registry folder in registry editor, you can use the regedit in windows search then find it there and delete it. Now after you delete it install it again properly without errors, if this will not install, your OS have a registry failure, repair your OS first. I need your update after
