Hi there,

In desperate need of help with getting my connection back up and running. I was having problems with dropped connections and had the great idea to reset my modem and Wi-Fi router back to its defaults. Unfortunately now wireless network name pops up in my networks but doesn't let me connect to the default password (only pops up occasionally). It was a problem getting to the Linksyssmartwifi because when I connected to the computer with the Ethernet cord to the router the connection would cut in and out. I have two laptops and they both did the same (even when I tried different Ethernet cords). With a lot of patience I still managed to get to the webpage but found everything to be fine. It said the default password was still the same as what the pamphlet gave me. So now I'm stumped.

Things I've tried:

-re-doing factory default settings on both modem and router
-manually updating router firmware
-contacted Linksys help and support (just went through standard list)
-Wireless button is on both laptops
-removed all previous networks I had hooked up to my laptops
-uninstalled/re installed drivers and updated them
-tried accessing Linksyssmartwifi

Any help would be much appreciated. I'm not the most Tek Savvy when it comes to this stuff so please if you have any suggestions send me a path to how to get to the solution.

My Router is:
- Make:Linksys AC1900
- Model: EA6900 V1.1

Modem is:
- Make:RCA
- Model: DCM425

Wifi adapter:
-Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter

ISP and connection type:
-Tek Savvy
-Cable 18 Pro

Hello buddy, you may want to wait for another answer, but I can tell you from a bitter experience of an almost identical situation, I had to replace the router,
Mine was a linksys e3500 (great unit mind you) but it started dropping signal, losing configuration and took me about ten tries to get into it. If yours is a newer unit, I would pursue warranty, if not, may be time for a new unit. I get a good two years (give or take) out of a router.

Thank-you gferrin2012 for your post. I suppose I am out of options and will try what you suggest. I'm actually baffled how this could even happen so quick after getting this new router two months ago. I swear I think it's easier to summon rain with a dance then getting this thing to work lol. Hopefully I can get a new one asap. Thanks again.

Re-post after you receive new unit, At two months old you should not be having any issues. I use cisco/linksys exclusively and have found them to excellent units. This one should definitely be under warranty.
