I've got a 1TB Seagate HDD where I have Windows 7 installed and a backup/storage drive, a 500GB Seagate.

I'd like to know how to clone my 1TB Windows 7 install onto the 500GB drive because I think that's faster and easier than doing a fresh install on the 500GB drive.

How do I do that?

Solution

1. How large is the total used space on your current C partition?

But the performance difference between a 1TB HDD and a 500GB HDD is non existent, unless one of them is actually failing.

Then that will not fit within a 500GB drive.

You need to reduce that "550GB" to below 400GB or so.
Macrium Reflect will migrate to that new drive, once you get the space situation figured out.
How much of that that '550GB' is doc/music/funny cat video?

(and 1,000GB - 350GB = 650GB, not 550GB)

I gues there's about 100GB I can get rid of without too much guilt, lol, I don't think I'll miss it that much.

As for my lousy math I always confuse Bytes with Bits, that's the reason behind it.
