GTX 970 or K1200? Is cooling an issue for GTX 970 in my case? Does the gtx produce clean renders?

I am sorry as I know this topic is covered over and over. I am going crazy here. I am going into animation and I am trying to improve my abilities for work. I am selling an AMD rig to improve my Intel rig. Here are specs:

OLD RIG:///////////////////////////////////////////////////NEW RIG:
cooler master haf 922 full tower/////////////////corsair 100r
msi 970a-g46/////////////////////////////////////////////sabertooth z77
fx 8320///////////////////////////////////////////////////////xeon e3-1275
hyper212 evo////////////////////////////////////////////bequiet cpu cooler
16gb ddr3 1600mhz hyper blu//////////////////16gb ddr3 1866mhz corsair dominator
broadcam ac--------------------------------------------------
kingston ssd 240gb////////////////////////////////////500gb samsung 840 pro
R9-290X/////////////////////////////////////////////////////246gb samsung ssd
kingwin 850w//////////////////////////////////////////////(2) quadro 600's
120mm top/////////////////////////////////////////////////be quiet straight power 500w
120mm side window(cut hole)////////////////////2 140mm bequiet wings front
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////120mm rear

I plan on getting $600 for the old rig. I want to get a quadro k1200 and 16 more GB of ram. The biggest problem I have is that my r9-270x messes up my topology in Maya, 3ds max, and modo. I even RMA'd the GPU and got received a new one, not refurbished, the other day and tested it out. The topology still messed up.

I do have a fun side and like to play ffxiv from time to time to stay sane from all the work I do.
My concern was that consumer grade cards do not have the certified drivers for my programs. I know my school has upgraded from old k cards to gtx 960's. I tested out my work out on their computers and the topology did not get messed up. This excites me because it means I could theoretically get a gtx 970 and have all my needs fulfilled for the same price tag as the quadro. I just do not want to make a mistake.

Will the life expectancy of the monstrous gtx go down being in my case?

I just want reliability. I dont care about massive frame rates in my game but I want the fastest renders and cleanest geometry in my work. The gtx 970 looks like it beats the k1200 in most render benchmarks, too. Are the gtx 970 renders' full of artifacts or are they clean?
