Hi everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade my PC to be able to handle 4k footage smoothly in Premiere, probably at half quality. I'm hoping I can just get a graphics card and possibly some more storage like 2 extra 2tb hdd's, and not have to upgrade anything else.

Would a GTX 970 be enough to handle 4K footage?
I'm also not sure if I'd need to upgrade my PSU or not.

Here is my current build,

Thanks very much for any help,

Kind of a tight budget... If you have 5,6, or CC the 970 might work, but you will need to do the "hack" of manually adding the card to the allowed cards list in 5 and 6. 960 might be a better choice if you're on a budget though

If you have 4 or earlier, I would suggest a quadro k600

Hi basroil, thanks for the reply!

I think I mentioned that the build listed is my current build, that's what I already have. Sorry for any confusion caused.

I was hoping to not spend more than £350 or 400 with the GPU and extra storage combined. Do you have experience with Premiere? I'd wouldn't mind editing at quarter resolution for the 4k if the 970 could handle that.
