I built my pc about 4 months ago and every day it would freeze and make a horrible sound and now it happens over 5 times a day I bought a graphics card... Nothing then I bought a new cpu nothing then I got a new mobo and ssd after that I just quit.

My specs:

Windows 10 Pro

Amd fx 8320E

120gb SanDisk Ssd

8gb DDR3 ram (singal)

MSI 760gma-p34

Solution
Do you mean the logisys 480W? You are better to get other better 400W PSU, the weakest component in your PC is the PSU, and the MB is other low quality part.
The gt 740 requires 400W PSU with 20 Amp on the +12 rail, but the logisys 480W has only 16A on it. If the PSU is like you said the logysis 400w ( I can't anything about it) , then check it out to see what exactly Amp is on the +12V.

What is your new MB? Is it the msi 760gma-p34? If yes, recommend to return the MSI MB, get the 970 chipset MB for the fx 8320E.

And other questions, what is your GPU? also the PSU? we need the model. Do you check the cpu/gp temps by the software? like HWiNFO http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php

My GPU is the GT 740 evga and my psu is a logysis 400w and I don't think it's the mb because ever since I bought it it would do that

Would an EVGA 500w work?

EVGA 500 W1 80+, 500W Continuous Power, 3 Year Warranty Power Supply 100-W1-0500-KR

Your PC has two weaker components, one was the PSU, other is the MSI MB, which is the 760 chipset. Even you used the lower power fx8320e, it maybe still have problem with that.

1) May try update the BIOS first. Also update the chipset driver too 2) May test the RAM by MemTest86 3) Monitor the cpu/GPU temp by HWiNFO64 4) Try use the DDU to uninsatll the GPU driver in safe mode, then reinstall the GPU driver.

Last to try 5) Try disable few cores ( try disable 2, 3, or even 4 cores) in the BIOS to see the PC will freeze or not during the games. If the pc runs fine in this situation, that means you needs to change the MB to the 970 chipset MB.

One big question I have, if you don't mind, where do they get the numbers "760" and what do "gma" and "p34" mean?

I've received some good help figuring out what to use to build my new PC, but when I research things on my own I see so many different numbers, and things I don't quite understand what they mean. What are some good resources to use to learn about all this stuff?

760= amd 760 chipset MB, the rest are the model number for the different series.

I feel like I should've known that -_- thanks for the reply/info! upvoted too.

The XFX XT Series may not be better than the EVGA 500W (which isn't very good to say the least). All we know so far about the XT is that it uses some funky capacitor brand called CS. It's also not manufactured by Seasonic like the other ones; Seasonic had a part in the design, but the real OEM is Shenzhen Ruishengyuan Technology. So far, it's looking like it won't be very high quality, but performance is unknown.

As for the Logisys 480W, I doubt that thing could recah half its rated amperage on the 12V rail. That's the junk PSU I saw at the flea market the other day, not even kidding.

I did the first 4 and I'll check back in a week. thanks

But how can we know it is? It's never been reviewed. For EVGA we have a review for the 500 W1 here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=384

And the 500B here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=351

But no review of the XFX XT, other than a Jonnyguru forum where user Orion took one apart and found an unknown capacitor brand.

I'm just saying, and it's my opinion, we don't really know how the XT performs yet so we can't make this conclusion quite just yet, I hope it performs well and am eagerly awaiting someone to get their hands on one, maybe Aris can review one here on Toms.
