CPU - i5 4690k @ stock
GPU - GTX 970 @ 1176Mhz
RAM - 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz
OS - Windows 10 x64 Home Edition

I purchased Far Cry 3 via Steam the other day and it fails to boot. I've done some searching around and found that this game has always had some problems for people as well as trying solutions that have worked for other people.

I've already tried:
-Running in compatibility mode (8, 7, and XP sp3)
-Running as administrator (all listed comp modes and without)
-Running Uplay and UbisoftGameLauncher in compatibility mode and as admin
-Clearing the Steam folder's AppCache folder
-uninstalling and reinstalling
-Using Steam's "verify game files" utility
---note on this: is that it did say that there were unverified files, but it did nothing about it. Also, I did this for both installations I have had of the game.
-Checked to make sure that Nvidia wasn't forcing any settings.
-Setting a launch options in Steam that forces DirectX 9.0c (-dx9 or -d3l9)

I'm at a complete loss here and running out of ideas. Every time, it is the same thing. I click to play (doesn't matter where), the Uplay launcher shows up and makes sure everything is up to date and closes, Far Cry 3 tries to boot, showing a blacked out window that takes up about 75% of the screen in the upper left corner, then crashes with Windows "trying to find a solution."

Any help would be appreciated

I actually fixed this a couple of days ago. It turns out that using Storage Spaces for my external HDD was causing the problem. Moved it to my boot drive and set it to XP SP3 comp mode and I was golden.
