I have a budget of around £400 already have my GPU from my old PC
Preferably go down the Intel CPU route an I5 4460 maybe, as i don't want to buy a prebuilt would greatly appricate an experts advice on a solid build with a good upgrade path
In the United Kingdom so will buy parts from the UK

Solution
A little over your budget, but a nice red/black theme and is the latest generation. Also has the ability to be overclocked if you ever decide to. CPU and PSU will support most video cards.

Ok, it's almost impossible to make a PC with a good upgrade path, when the budget is $400, and the preferred CPU is half that, what I'm trying to say is if you want a PC with that specific processor. You're going to need to increase your budget to $600 at least. If I was you I'd wait a little longer, save up some money and buy a better PC... Also, it is possible to use that processor in a $400 budget, but you'll be getting the most basic and the most cheapest parts that currently available... You could even keep your budget then go with an i3 instead of an i5. That's my suggestion, but it's up to you...

The CPU cooler would handle slight overclocks, but you'd have to get a different motherboard, you'd have to get z170, b150 is not overclockable, out off all the kinds of motherboards for SkyLake, only z170 is overclockable.
