Ok I originaly had a gtx 770 and upgraded to a 980ti. Ever since the upgrade my computer crashes about 5 minutes into a game, but usually only once, after the computer has been idle or off for awhile. Once i restart it, its fine, atleast from what Ive observed. Ive checked event viewer and the only things that come up are that the computer restarted/shutdown unexpectedly, and other errors that come with restarting the computer.
Ive tried installing a fresh copy of windows from scratch to make sure it was a clean upgrade/install.
I upgrades my psu to a thermaltake 850w gold. Although i was sure my 750w gold was fine.
Ive disassembled my computer and reassembled it.
Just 5 minutes ago i put my old gpu back in to see if the problem persists. It did freeze once on 1st start up of old gpu installation. But....im going to give it the benefit of the doubt and call it a fluke.
The only other thing i can think of is that i had to use an extreme amount force to remove my old gpu. I had to push extremely hard on the eject button, atleast a good 60 to 70lb of force. Maybe it could have damaged the mobo.
NOTE:I bought this pc off someone else and the gpu was already in it.
I dont have any cheap parts ib my computer.
16gb G.Skill Ripjaw 2400
MSI X99S Gaming 7 Mobo
MSI GTX 980ti
I7-5960x with a 20%OC
Thermaltake 850w 80plus gold
Windows 10 64bit
Just looking for suggestions to try next or just some input.
