Hello everyone!!

ive recently started experiencing issues with my computer where it will randomly shut down while playing games. i first started getting blue screen errors about 3 days ago and today it just started shutting down completely without a message or anything, as if i had unplugged it from the power. ive had it for about 3-4 years now and never had a problem with it. after it randomly shuts down i have to wait a few mins before it will turn back on because if i dont, the computer will turn on for 1 or 2 secs before shutting down again, sometimes it will not start at all until a wait a few mins. ive left my computer running over a few hours and it is still back on when i come back which leads me to belive that it only shuts down under load. ive opened my case after it shuts down and noticed that the psu is a little hot and in general the pc slighty smells like rubber being melted, but not too much..just slighty, not too noticeable. could this just be and issue with my psu starting to fail or maybe my cpu overheating? Ive recently decided in upgrading my GPU to an msi R9 390 and CPU fan to a hyper 212 evo mainly beceause my amd stock fan is super lound and it might not be cooling enough, maybe its just the thermal paste that need to be reapplied . If I decide to go through with the upgrade, will my current psu be enough or will i have to replace it with a better one? I would really like to save some money by keeping my current psu but if its needed i could buy a new one since my current one MIGHT be failing. will i have any compatibility/technical issues if i upgrade? I dont plan on Overclocking.

Current specs:

-Case: cooler master haf 912
-PSU: Corsair CX600
-Mobo: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
-Ram: Corsair Vengeance Blue 2x4GB (8GB)
-CPU: AMD FX-8350 8 Core processor (Stock Speed)
-CPU fan: Stock "Cooling Blender" -.- want to upgrade to a hyper 212 evo
-GPU: Powercolor Radeon HD 7850 2GB (Stock Speed) and want to upgrade to an MSI r9 390 8GB
-HDD: WD blue 1TB

Thanks For Your Time :D and have a nice day :)

I should add that the R9 390 is a hell of a lot more power hungry than the 7850, so if you're having PSU issues now you'd definitely want to be replacing the PSU before upgrading your GPU.

Hi - agree with above, that it is most likely the PSU. But, not because it isn't powerful enough, because it
has more power than a 7850 needs. However, the big knock on Corsair CX series has been their use
of lower quality capacitors, which degrade quicker than better quality ones.
So, there's a fair chance that is what happened here. The CX series is after all a budget level PSU and as
such isn't really suitable for the rigors of gaming.

Even if you weren't having this issue I wouldn't recommend upgrading to an r9 390 with a CX series PSU.
You def need to replace and upgrading your CPU cooler at the same time makes a lot of sense.

A good quality 650w unit is more than sufficient.

Im in the USA and i dont want to spend more than 100 on the psu, the more i can save the better.

Update: my pc just started freezing seconds after the dekstop loads.. and sometimes it will just not even boot up, will just show me components info and cant acces bios u.u

Hi again - plz check below for some PSU suggestions: However, is there a another PC you could borrow to be
100% certain it's the PSU. Small chance it's something else such as RAM, HDD, or GPU. The symptoms you
describe suggest PSU:

there right now, Bronze - semi mod
