Can I use that stock cooler ? Expecting first Skylake ever in my home tomorow (for my wife). It's coming without cooler so at the moment I just need to test, start cpu and do some destrkop/browser stuff. I'm wondering can i7 4770k be installed on skylake, and it will work and keep cpu cool enough on stock speeds in ~20c room temp.

No GPU yet, so pretty cool case.

Ignore my CPU's Expert badge, seriosly.. Those were casual questions and I'm always paranoic when things are around my hand.

Overclocking on stock voltage increase temperature right ? I'm pretty sure it doesn't on my i7 4770k so just making sure. It will probably run dota2/diablo3 but those games are not demanding so I will watch temps. I was just worried that it can fit on i5 6600k. Cool thanks.

Keep in mind that 6600k is a little cooler than 4770k and this will help temps.Another thing that might help you is the program core temp with an utility which you can set a safe temp and if your cpu exceed this temp then the program will alarm you for safety.

I have monitor stuff always on OSD and system try trough MSI afterburner or some software so I'm safe in terms of max temp, bad habbit perhaps but I'm always aware of my temps.

i do the same--always being able to check temperatures isnt a bad habit to me--a sudden increase in cpu or gpu can be an early warning of somethings wrong so to me its a good idea to be able to see them with a quick glance

Yup agree totally. Btw I'm testing my stability with h264 encoding into Adobe Premiere. Not really bothering to try it out in Prime95 when it come to clocking. Doubt that my wife will need any clock whatsoever but I will get some cheap air cooler to push that to 4.2+ if I'm good with silicon luck.
