Hi guys so as the title says I am finally building a new computer! I want to spend under a thousand and the only reason I can go up by a small margin is if I get a way better bang for the buck.

Approximate Purchase Date: I am looking to purchase my components over the next week or two, I am without a computer so am looking to build as soon as possible with your help!

Budget Range: Around $1000, again will go up by a small margin if I am getting WAY better performance for the buck.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies, VR

Are you buying a monitor: PLEASE SUGGEST A MONITOR I CAN PURCHASE IN THE FUTURE

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I reside in the United States, so any site that works as long as they aren't shifty, I work extremely hard for my money :(

Location: Chicago Subarbs, Schaumburg to be exact.

Parts Preferences: I prefer intel/Nvidia combo

Overclocking: Yes! I will like to eventually purchase a cooler for the CPU, but it's not something I'd be doing right away.

SLI or Crossfire: One day

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I'd prefer it to be quiet, but performance comes first.

----------------------
This is the build I was looking at, please critique and tell me if I can do better, etc. Also I don't need a monitor WITHIN the 1000 dollar price range, I will get one in the future, but I'd love to know which to get. I love watching movies and TV shows so I'd like bigger size but then I know that messes with gaming FPS, so your ideas please.

I am getting the following compatibility issues, what can I chose instead to fix?
Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard has onboard USB 3.0 headers, but the NZXT Source 210 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.
The NZXT Source 210 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case supports video cards up to 330mm long, but video cards over 230mm may block drive bays. Since the MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card is 269mm long, some drive bays may not be usable.

Sorry for all the text, I love this community and all the help I've gotten over the years. God bless you guys seriously. Like I said I don't have too much to spend so every dollar matters, haha. Thank you in advance and I'm stoked to see your ideas. Cheers!

Solution
1: AMD is way outdated and Zen is coming out soon anyways, it wastes to much power and does very poorly in tasks with less threads.
2: PSU is not very good and for a premium build like this id get a PSU such as the EVGA SuperNOVA GS or G2.
3: This looks like more of a editing/rendering build than a mainstream gaming build.
4: Get a 250GB SSD for OS and stuff you like/use a lot and a 1TB HDD for everything else. I just got my PC in July last year and I have already used about 200GB and I don't even have many steam games, just TF2 and Mitos.is

Hey, so thats a pretty good build! Heres my reccommended build.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/m8wFFT
The R9 390 has more VRAM making it better for Crossfire down the road and more future proof. The rest is pretty similar. The Crucial is a cheaper SSD for almost the same performance.

For a monitor any IPS 1080p that you like should do. I use a Dell S2715H, a fairly large 27 inch bezelless monitor. It is quite expensive for a normal monitor but i got mine for 270 CDN on sale in bestbuy. BTW I live in Canada

You went with a micro atx mono? Why? Also I always heard AMD doesn't have as good of an ecosystem in terms of drivers as Nvidia. The rest of your build is what I'm thinking about copying. What about i7 over i5? Thanks

EDIT:Found i5 6600k for $220! And when I bundle with a motherboard I get an additional $20 off.http://www.microcenter.com/product/451885/Core_i5-6600K_35GHz_1151_Boxed_Processor

Also more thoughts on GTX970 VS AMD R390. I found the r390 for 300 even. Also I'm going with one of the Asus motherboards due to price, Asus Z170-ar or Asus z170 pro gaming. Thanks!

390 is more futureproof if you're not getting another card in 1-2 years the 390 will be better. The 970 has more OC potential and more pure speed. The 390 is better for 1440p and 4k tho. They are both very good and will go nicely with a 6600k.

Remember though Nvidia has a focus on VR so here is my idea of a VR focused build:

Yes I am! I by mistake gave you best answer and don't know if I have the best build yet. Please continue with ideas.

I really just want to know what's better the Asus Z170-AR or Asus Zi70 Pro Gaming. I found a bundle with i5 6600k for 350!

EVGA 500W Power Supply - 34.99 - Amazon
MSI 970 Gaming DDR3 2133 Motherboard - 98.99 - Amazon
AMD FX-8370 Black Edition 8 Core CPU 4.3 Gig - 189.99 - Amazon
G Skill RipJaw X-Series 16 (2x8) Memory- 88.95 - Amazon (cheaper is still okay)
MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX970 Graphics Card - 332.45 - Amazon
Samsung EVO 500 Gig SSD - 149.99 - Amazon

That is $895.36 before taxes and shipping. I Own this exact setup and am playing the new Tom Clancy game "The Division" on Max settings with 60+ fps. If you have a budget go with AMD.
