After OC, my CPU causes stutters/lags when I start the game

Hi everyone,

I know there are alot of threads about it, but no one seems to help me.

First of all, I'm using AMD Overdrive to overclock my CPU(AMD Fx-4300 quadcore).
Second of all, it can't be that my CPU and my CPU cores get to hot, because they are under 60°C.
Also my voltage can't be the problem, because I'm bumping it up.

(Little bit information what I exactly did)

I tried to multiply my CPU Cores from 19x to ! 19,5x !
I started my game (Counter Strike: Global Offensive) and it started to stutter/lag even without joining something.
So I tried to bump a little bit my voltage from 1.3000 to 1.3500.(and also tried over and over more, nothing changed)
While I tried this, I also watched the heat and it was still in the safe area.

Here are my computer specs |

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

Now is my question, what is the problem?<

Please help me.

Solution
This is easy. Your motherboard is not very good and cannot handle an overclocked FX. You are experiencing throttling under loads. Your cpu temps seem fine BECAUSE your motherboard is throttling the cpu.

Your core speeds look incorrect. It is showing your core1 target speed @ 2850MHz and not 3800MHz or the 3900MHz(OC). Looks like you underclocked it. And the other 3 cores look overclocked way over the 3900MHz goal. Im seeing 4369MHz, which could be causing the stuttering. I would start over. you should reset the bios. and its best to just change the multiplier in the bios.

here is a pic of my fx 4350 in AMD overdrive.

some chips, and some motherboards, just can't handle overclocks well. this could be your situation.

i would recommend uninstalling OverDrive or just resetting everything to default and turning off it's control. then redoing the overclock from within the BIOS. i have always had better overclocking results using direct control from the board rather than software.

in your picture it appears your first core is stuck at 1.6GHz?? and bold face type is not necessary

Hi RudyG87 and JohnBonhamsGhost,

Thanks for the fast answer.
I noticed it also, but newer knew how to change it.

I'll restart and reset the bios now and trying it again.
I'll will look for it again and hope it's working, if not i'll be back. :D

No, it isnt stuck and 1,6 ghz, it's switching all the time.
I don't know if this is good or not good.

So, here is my AMD Overdrive after I resetted the bios to default.

It's still over the 2850 MHz.
And everything else is going too high.

What should I do?

@JohnbonhamsGhost

I know, but like I said, the heating isn't a problem at all. :)
But thanks anyway mate.

And also with your 4350.
Well we doesnt have the same CPU but almost the same, why do you have the HT ref. Clock(MHz) and the PCIe Speed(MHz) so high?
Do I have to change this also?

I do not know why my HT and PCIe are high. I did not change them. simply change the CPU multiplier and save settings. I wouldnt multiply too high though, Its safe to oc to 4000 or maybe more before having to change voltage. I recommend reading guides on OC the fx cpu.

Well okay.

So here is my problem again.

Even when I just overclock it 0.5 MHz, it starts stuttering in my game.
Some1 know a solution for it why it could be like that?

@RudyG87 it's on 3800 MHz and 19x (like standard). When I overclock the multiplier 0.5x it's starts lagging.

@CTurbo wow, good to know. And you are 100% sure, thats my motherboard who f*cks it up?

@xiGHT just wanted to make sure you changed the right setting cause your last setting were jacked. But that is fine. Start over and try again. Or just don't OC. Is it really neccessary? and CTurbo might be right.

Yes, and I'll put it to you this way... I knew after just reading the title that you had a FX cpu and cheapo motherboard.

So yes, the ASRock 880GM-LE FX motherboard is not very good and should not be overclocked on.

And thats the stock setting? It just looks unusual that the target is 2850MHz. Wish I could have helped ya. But, just take CTurbos advice and leave it stock. If it ain't broke...
