Corrupted Asus BIOS

I tried to install Ubuntu on my Windows 10 PC. It has an Asus Z170 Pro Gaming MB. The install effort failed. Worse, Windows doesn't work well anymore. Also, I can't get to the BIOS the normal ways. When I start the PC, the POST shows for about 45 seconds and then Windows loads. How can I get into the probably corrupted BIOS? Thanks.

Yes, but how do I access the BIOS in this situation?

You would access BIOS as you do normally.
Most likely it is an corrupted Boot loader, not BIOS. You can fix the boot loader to the windows default by putting in a windows installation disk.
If you want to fix your boot loader to default windows -
1. Access the cmd from this tutorial - http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2880-command-prompt-boot-open-windows-10-a.html
2. On the command prompt type - bootrec /rebuildbcd . Then - bootrec /fixboot .

Hope i could help.

I am not able to access the BIOS using the normal methods (i.e. DEL, F2, CTL-ALT-DEL)

Do you still feel it's not a BIOS issue?

I tried the command line fix:

After the first command, it said no Windows system was found.

I ran the second command anyway:

It said that it was successfully completed but nothing has changed.

During startup you can use either F2 or DEL. If Windows is running, you use CTL-ALT-DEL. All methods used to work. None work now. My keyboard is wireless.

Doesn't the fact that I can't access the BIOS indicate some kind of problem with the BIOS? In any case, what do you think I should try next?

Thanks

It's possible I changed a USB setting. But that was a few days ago.

I only have had the wireless keyboard.

In the Asus manual they say there is a crash recovery program on their disc. It's supposed to reset the BIOS to oringial settings. What do you think?

Thanks. I just discovered that at least one of my usb ports is not working. I will reset the BIOS.
