Can't connect RAM to work in Dual Channel?

Before I say anything I made sure that all slots and all ram sticks work so that can't be the problem. I have an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 that does support dual channel and an AMD FX-8300.

I have 2 DDR3 Patriot Viper 3 modules, each 8GB.

I've tried both combinations for dual channel, but only one module gets detected in both dual channel combinations (A1-B1,A2-B2).
I've also had problems with single channel and only one combination is working for single channel and that is A2 - B1... A1-A2, B1-B2, A1-B2 <- all these detect both modules but only 7.9GB ram of 16GB is usable.

CPU-Z says the memory is running in dual mode, but how is that possible if it's not connected as it should be: http://i.imgur.com/OxgxZ7z.png

Help!

You have a stick in channel A and another in channel B - that equates to dual channel (8GB in each channel), it's weird though the other slot combinations aren't working, I'd guess a bad mobo, but check the CPU for bent/broken pins also

Of course, I'm not stupid. I read the manual and also connected the recommended dual channel combo, still not working.

So the only setup(16gb) that works is a single channel. And the patriot sticks are the same? Trying to run sticks that did not come as a set in dual channel might cause an issue like yours.

Everything written on the RAM sticks is the same, serilal, part numbers and everything else.. timings, frequency, capacity.. But I didn't buy them together, I bought the second RAM module later because I didn't have the money to get the both at once.

I have Windows Ultimate, as you can see I already said the RAM is working in dual (says CPU-Z and AIDA64) but that can't be because they are in wrong slots??

The cpu is brand new, and how could I do anything on my pc if a pin was broken?
