I have a Toshiba Satellite A35-S159 that can't detect the hardrive, i have attempted rebooting but after letting it set for a while on a blank screen, it pops up with "MEDIA TEST FAILURE EXITING PXE ROM" I can't access anything using the installation disk or a recovery CD. Can someone please help me fix this without any data loss?

Solution
Your laptop is trying to boot via the network adapter because it can't find boot code on the hard drive.

To avoid data loss (assuming it's not already too late), remove the hard drive and connect it to a working PC using a SATA-to-USB adapter cable, or buy an external laptop hard drive enclosure which plugs in to a USB port. You should then be able to copy the data from it to another location.

Then put the drive back in to your laptop and perform re-install of Windows from the recovery discs.
