Hello guys,

I am going to upgrade from i3 4130 + gtx 750 to i5 4460 + gtx 970. For this upgrade I also need a hard drve to compliment my upgrade. I am looking for 1tb storage so ssd is out of question. I am looking something in the range of wd blue. Suggest me a hard drive which is the fastest on the market and has really good access times so that my system does not feel as sluggish as it does on my present 5400rpm drive and really helps me in gaming.

Thanks, anyway
Bye.

Hy!

I have a WD blue hdd, and I have some experience inconnection with it! When I bought it, i thought i will have to get windows to defrag it twice a month, but it's not! I use it almost 2 years, and it work fine! The defrag is about 7% since I have bought it! Moreover, i had 210 MB writing when I copied a file an other place! If you keep your pc clean, it work fast. I have heard some romuors, that the WD Black, has a little bigger sound than the WD Blue! Buy it, you won't be disappointed!
WD Blue is generally a good option. Not amazing read/write speeds or responsiveness since it's a hard drive. Next is WD Black which has better read/write speed than the Blue but not much better responsiveness. Really the ideal solution would be getting a 1TB WD Blue + 120-240GB SSD for the OS and some games/programs.

You did not state what motherboard you are getting for the i5 4460. If the motherboard supports M.2, you may think about getting a M.2 500 GB or 1 TB for super fast OS start up, games, or programs (video editing).

There are 2 TB SSDs that will beat HDs in loading times.

The only reason to get a HD nowadays is for bulk storage.

M.2 beats SATA SSD. SATA SSD beats SATA HD.

Remember, not all M.2 SSDs are PCIe. Some M.2 motherboard interfaces are still SATA. It will depend on which buss the drive is connected to. And if PCIe, how many lanes they use.
But the OP was asking strictly about HDDS...

I was really replying to c2yCharlie's statement "has really good access times so that my system does not feel as sluggish". A HD, which as requested will not be as beneficial as a SSD or M.2 for reads or writes and should be pointed out to the requester.

I agree on your statement about the motherboards concerning M.2, but I did ask for info on the motherboard that was going to be used.

No guys, you did not get the point. When I said that ssd is out of question it was because I cannot afford it. I looking for something in the price range of wd blue/black. I AM ON A BUDGET. I hope that makes things easy. Also how is this Seagate sshd 1tb compared to regular wd blue/black?
