I was wondering what your thoughts were on my selection of components for my first PC build. I set a budget of $2,000 and I am currently at $2,200 which I am okay with. I think I have built a solid first PC just would like some insight on things I could have overlooked. I will give part numbers for easy searching. I suggest Newegg because they give pretty good specifications.

Components (Part #):

CPU Cooler (RR-HTZ-28PK-R1):
-Cooler Master Hyper T2 - Compact CPU Cooler
-Not planning on doing OC (especially since I am new) right now so that is why I chose this cooler.

-MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G

Ram (F4-2133C15D-16GVR):

PSU (220-P2-0850-X1)
-EVGA SUPERNOVA 850 ATZ12V/EPS 12V

-CM Storm Stryker Full Tower

Optical Drive (IHDS118-04):
-LITE-ON Black SATA DVD-RIM

Monitor (AOC G2460PG):
-24" G-Sync 144Hz Widescreen LED Backlit

OS (KW9-00140):
-Microsoft Windows 10 Home-64 Bit

Keyboard & Mouse (SGB-3030-KKMF1-US):
-CM Devastator II Blue LED Combo

Headset (KHX-HSCP-GM):
-Kingston HyperX Cloud II

I will also be purchasing a surge protector, thermal compound, and a controller (still enjoy controllers). Is this a solid build? Will I need anything else or is anything incompatible?

Also a complicated thing for me is LOCATION. I am at an overseas APO address so I have to find sites with free shipping if possible or if i can even get certain components here.

Also many thanks in advance, I greatly appreciate it!

To maximize gaming performance for your budget, you'd be better off getting a cheaper CPU/mobo and getting a better GPU. For instance, if you get an i5-6500, non-Z mobo, and use stock cooler, you could get a 980 ti and still save some money.

But if you want to stick with the 6700k, it's still a good build.

Edit: or here's another build you can consider:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($239.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG M9i 48.4 CFM CPU Cooler ($19.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($111.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB)...
