hello everyone,
Im looking to make my final upgrade to my pc for a while. My current build is an ASUS gtx 750 Ti graphics card, an amd fx 4130 processor and a 500 watt atx power supply. now my question is what is compatible with my motherboard. i looked it up on the msinfo32 or 22 i think it was and it stated that i had an ms-7641 manufactured by msi. now could i upgrade to an amd fx-6300 or 8300? obviously the 8300 would be of preference but i understand its more powerful so might require a new psu and so on and so forth. im trying to upgrade without having to switch out my motherboard. if the 6300 will do the trick and be compatible then i can easily order that just need some help from you pc guys out there. any recommendations or any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

I'm not having much luck finding stuff about an MSI MS-74641, so I think you'll need to find the model some other way - like using CPU-Z or opening the case and looking at the board. Once you have the model number, head over to MSI's web site, search for your board and there should be a Support or Compatibility tab. If not the latter, then try the former to see if there's a Compatibility tab there. If you find it, select CPU and see which CPUs it lists. If there's no compatibility information, then you can download the motherboard manual and see which CPUs it lists. Odds are your board does not support 200W CPUs, but the FX 8300 is not a 200W CPU, modern FX 8300s are 95W parts. AMD has the 125W tier as well, so a 95W part is...

It would use only a bit more than the FX 4130.
