Like the title implies, I have my SSD configured to boot and installed with new updates and is running fine without my old hard drive installed.
That said, should I finally wipe my hard drive? I have everything I want backed up already, but I'm a bit concerned with the partitions that are on this drive.

There are 4 partitions on the Hard Drive in question:
D: OS (where all my files were stored)

G: System (100mb)

*: (this one has me confused, it's a 450 mb partition, with about 335mb used. what could this be if anyone knows?)

E: HP_Recovery (Old. like Windows 7 old. I've had windows 10 on this computer for a while and never really needed this recovery partition as I had my own backup)

I'm planning on using this drive as a storage device for all my games and music, and want to keep my SSD free of clutter. The hard drive has nothing left that I need, so I'm willing to do whatever with it to make it an extra drive that I can use.

Solution
If you have everything up and running smoothly without the HDD installed, and have everything you need from the HDD backed up, yes you can wipe it. Don't worry about the 450 MB partition. It's labeled as "recovery partition" for me in Disk Management for my Win10 install. Just something that was created during the OS install on your old HDD.

Yes, you can delete any partitions on the old drive and format it now. It will be ready to use for program installation or file storage after that.

After you re connect the HDD, go into disk management (right click start icon). Delete the existing partitions on the HDD, and then create a new partition(s). Then format the partition(s) as NTFS. They should now show up in file explorer and be ready to use.
