I'm thinking about getting an SSD as well as an HDD for my new build. I might just drop getting the SSD completely but if I were to get both, how big does the SSD need to be?

Solution

Minimum 120GB, but a 250GB is a better price vs size ratio.
Hey there, Nokah.

Well basically, if it's going to be just for your OS and programs/apps, I'd say a 120GB should be OK. This should be sufficient depending on the software you plan on installing on it. An SSD will greatly boost the performance of your system, so it's a good idea to get one if it fits your budget.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

We have 3 desktops at home. All of them have a 120GB SSD + 1 TB HDD and their usage varies from simple workstation to full gaming setup. The SSD's are more than adequate but 240GB would give us more wiggle room.
