I have a Samsung SSD 850 EVO solid stage drive. It is just laying around...I was wondering if I could use it as an external hard drive. It is a 250 gig. I have a 500 gig SSD in my computer. What are your thoughts. I am a photographer too bad I could not hook that baby up to my camera.....eh?

Hey there, hunterpopcorn.

Well you won't get much of an SSD's performance by using it as an external drive. It would be better if you could use it in your system either for your OS (but I assume you have one for that), or for high demanding software e.g. like video/photo editing programs, or games with lots of in-game loading screens (if you are into gaming).
This is of course just a suggestion, if you'd have more use of it as an external drive, just get a good USB 3.0 external enclosure and hook it up.

Hope that helps.

Is this a desktop or laptop?
If a desktop, just hook it up internally. I have a 250GB 840 EVO dedicated to photo editing.

If you have the drive, use it. It does no good just sitting around.
