I currently have a I3 2120 paired with a gtx 750 ti 2 gb sc but am wondering if I should upgrade to a I3 3220 and how much of a difference in gaming I would notice. I'm also planning on buying the cpu used. (I play alot of Call of Duty Black Ops III which isn't extremely demanding but I don't think my setup would run gta V very well with my cpu) I would appreciate your feedback!

Your i3-2120 has a passmark rating of 3874 when all 4 threads are in use. The single thread rating is 1684.
The i3-3220 has a better architecture, resulting in a total rating of 4209, and a single thread rating of 1761. Really, not a big jump.
Particularly for games which need the performance of the single master core.

What is your motherboard? If it has overclocking capabilities, then a overclockable cpu like a i5-2500K would be a very nice boost.
Total = 6455, single = 1848 before overclocking.

If you can't overclock, a i5-3350 is similar.

Really, though, why not try GTAV first and see how you do?

Unfortunately my motherboard is a dell h61 with a lga 1155 socket I got the desktop free and put about $213 and it runs COD Black Ops III at 1080p mostly medium settings with a few turned off and I get a pretty steady 60 fps ( I think I might have frame limiting on set to 60 fps so I might get more) so you're right I should try GTAV before I buy a cpu. Does anyone on this thread play gtav or have friends with a similar setup?

I didn't even look the q6600 up so thanks for pointing that out to me :) I'm still interested in a cheaper i5 because I can tell my cpu is having a hard time keeping up with thinks like simple multitasking and I have an ssd as my boot drive.
